Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X1 is a foldable laptop that makes you feel like holding a book rather than a computer

Morrisville, North Carolina, USA

The Lenovo Design Innovation Team presents the new X1 Fold, a folding OLED laptop that allows users to fold the device display in half for compact mobility and a transformative user experience.

The system transforms from a 12″ notebook to a 16.3″ all-in-one that can be used in either portrait or landscape mode.

The device can also work as a large handheld tablet or create a book-mode experience.

The system is bound in recycled nylon creating a personal notebook feel, and holds a full-size keyboard and magnetic stylus.

For its innovative design, the X1 Fold 16.3” has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

The system is designed with narrow bezels, an integrated 5MP RGB and infrared camera, ports to support 3 displays, and a 64 W battery.

These features allow the user to truly adapt to any work scenario with agility, pairing well with the hybrid workforce era. With the expertise in design for engineering the designers were able to create a true notebook experience that adapts from a much smaller form factor.

With the use of a complex flexible screen and bell hinge function that allows the two halves of the system to fold completely flat, the latest ThinkPad foldable offering is a significant upgrade in computing performance, display size, and use case flexibility compared to the earlier ThinkPad Fold 13.
